The Best Make Up Choice For My Skin Color

Choosing the best makeup for your complexion can sometimes be a challenge. While everyone’s skin is unique, there are certain guidelines to consider when choosing makeup colors based on four basic skin colors.

Fair Skin

Fair skinned women will want to look for light, sheer make up colors such as soft blues, pinks and lavenders. Light pastel colors and light earth tones such as light browns and greens can make eyes look fresh and wide open. Lip tones for fair skinned individuals should be kept in the light pink pallet, while bright reds and brown shades should be avoided. Cheek color should also be light pink as it will give fair skin a naturally flushed look.

Medium Skin Tones

Generally jewel tones and earth tones are the most complimentary eye colors for individuals with medium skin. Jewel tones such as purple, greens and deep blues will help brighten eyes, while earth tones such as grays, beige and browns will help bring warmth to the face while complimenting the skin. Cheek colors can range from darker pink and coral shades to pink colors with plumb undertones. Warmth can also be added to the face with a light bronzing powder. Those with medium skin tones can also be flexible with their lip color, almost any color from bright pinks to deep dark reds will look good with medium skin.

Olive Skin

Those with olive or ethnic colored skin can wear a number of colors of eye make up, including dark and bold colors such as dark plum and bright metallic blue. Cheeks can be highlighted with brown or plum based shades of color or with bronzer. Look for colors that don’t contrast the natural skin tone too much, as it will look unnatural. Lip colors should stay within the natural color pallet, and plum and brown shades should be used as opposed to bright reds.

Dark Skin

Women with dark skin can experiment with many different colors of eye make up. Bright shimmering colors such as silver, blue and purple and jewel tones look great against darker skin. Colored mascaras, such as blue mascara, can help bring definition and color to the eyes to help them pop. Women with dark skin, should use darker blush colors such as reds or deep dusty pinks while avoiding orange. Dark colors, such as browns and reds should also be used when choosing a lip color.

Eye Spy – Top Tips On How To Look Fabulous In Glasses

Eye spy with my little eye, some funky glasses that make me want to buy! With the plethora of stylish and fashionable sunglasses and spectacles on the market today, it is easier than ever to look fabulous in glasses.

Choosing flattering glasses can be a slightly daunting exercise yet it can make all the difference between looking spectacular and looking ‘ok’. Glasses are considered as a focal point; which means, they draw people’s eyes to them. So it is very important that you choose glasses which flatter your face, your colouring and your style.

The right pair of glasses can add style and sophistication to your look while the wrong pair may make you look tired, old and slightly awkward. Here are my top tips in finding the right pair of glasses:

What is my face shape? Take a look in the mirror. Is your face round, oval or square? The most flattering style of glasses to choose does not copy your face shape. For example, square or rectangular glasses flatter round or oval faces because they add definition to the softness of a round face. Round glasses enhance square shaped faces by adding softness to defined features.

What type of frame should I choose?

  • Always make sure the top of the frame is parallel to your brow line or it in some way. Small frames may fall below the brow but still run parallel or follow a similar contour line as your eyebrows.
  • The bottom of the frame should either repeat the angle of your jaw or chin line or reverse it. Alternatively, it could follow your hairline.
  • For a perfectly balanced look, your eye should sit in the middle of the glass lens.

How do I ensure a good fit?

  • Make sure the arms of the frame fit securely on your ears and close against your head, without causing discomfort. When you look in the mirror, the glasses should sit straight, rather than at a slant. When you tilt or shake your head, the glasses should remain in place.
  • The frames need to be as wide as your temples. Glasses that are too narrow will make you look like you have a big head while glasses that are too wide will make your head look small. To check the fit, look to see if the ear hooks protrudes past your ear, or if the arms bend inwards or outwards.
  • Use your weight as a guide to how heavy the frames should be. The heavier you are, the heavier the frame you can wear. Most women do well with light to medium weight frames – unless of course you going for something dramatic.

What color should I choose?

The color of the glasses you choose should always complement your skin tone, eye and hair colour. The right colour will enhance your appearance while the wrong colour will detract from it.

When was the last time I changed my glasses?

If you have not changed your glasses in the last two or three years, it is time to consider buying a new pair. A new pair of glasses is one of the easiest ways to update your look. There are so many styles and price points available, which suit any type of budget, from Chanel to Sportsgirl you will be able to find a new pair of sunglasses easily.

I personally see glasses as jewellery for the face! Change it up, add some bling, be creative, be distinctive, be dramatic, be classic… its all up to you. Remember glasses can flatter your eyes, complement your clothes, and add sophistication or even a touch of cheekiness. Gone are the days when sunglasses were a functional item worn just to protect the eyes. Now they are an important part of a woman’s wardrobe. Nicole Ritchie famously said she has over 300 pairs of sunglasses and sees it as a staple to every woman’s wardrobe. So invest some time in finding the perfect pair – or even several – to accentuate the beauty in your face and add the finishing touch to your outfit.

Mobile Phone Etiquette Tips

I am amazed with all the technology around us and the way our children are born with instinct skills to use, while people like me take years of experience and training to be able to use them with confidence.

Today I would like to talk about mobile phone etiquette. If you ask the same group of children who use the mobile phone with ease about etiquette, they will say “What is etiquette, anyway?” Etiquette is a set of rules that we all need to follow in order to fit in in today’s society. Moreover we need to be courteous and civil toward others by following some basic etiquette rules.

Mobile phones today and the way we use them have changed tremendously in the past few years. The whole world of mobile phones has evolved so much that we need to consider a few rules of etiquette. We are well aware that it’s easy to be rude with a mobile phone without being conscious about it; people talking too loudly; insulting and annoying ring tones going off in the wrong places at the wrong times etc.

Mobile Phone Etiquette Tips

  1. Turn your phone off or to silent when you are in holy places, meetings, fine dining restaurants, courtrooms, theatre and at the movies
  2. Do not be loud or obnoxious when talking in public
  3. Avoid rude and inappropriate conversations
  4. To show your respect to others, do not check your phone when you are in their company
  5. Never text or answer a call while you are driving especially if you do not have hands free
  6. Make sure your ringtone is not too loud, annoying or insulting to anyone
  7. When you leave a message ensure that you speak clearly
  8. When leaving your details like your name and number ensure to repeat them
  9. Avoid lengthy messages, be precise and never leave bad news but rather ask for the person to call you back
  10. When you have to take an important call make sure to let others know ahead of time, excuse yourself, step away into a quite area and carry on

Follow these simple guidelines of common courtesy when using a mobile phone in public, remember, public places are designed for us to be shared. I hope you enjoyed reading about our ten tips mobile phone etiquette. Happy Fathers Day – I Love You Dad

There are moments in life when you wish you could bring someone down from ‘Heaven’…and spend the day with them just one more time, just one more moment, to give them one more hug, kiss them goodbye or hear their voice again. One more chance to say I Love you….So why wait until they are gone, tell them you love them “NOW” today and everyday as you don’t know when the time will come.

I never had a chance to show my love and gratitude to my father as he was taken away from me (murdered) when I was young. The faded memory of my father always reminds me not to take life for granted and to lead by example, I often show my love and gratitude to those people around me.

The idea to celebrate and to honour fathers and celebrate fatherhood was introduced by Sonora Smart Dodd in the United States early in the 20th century. The first Father’s Day was celebrated in Spokane, Washington on June 19, 1910. Father’s Day has become increasingly popular throughout North America and other parts of the world over the years.

On the first Sunday of September Australia will be celebrating Father’s Day. Therefore this is your chance to reconcile and show your loved one that you care. Make sure that this year will go down in history in your memory book, demonstrating your gratitude and appreciation to your fathers or father figures. Father figures could be anyone like stepfathers, fathers-in-law, guardians, foster parents, a family friend or infact anyone that you care about.

Here is a Poem that touched my heart and I hope it touches yours as well.

Fathers are wonderful people too little understood, And we do not sing their praises as often as we should… And Father struggles daily to live up to “his image” As protector and provider and “hero of the scrimmage”… And perhaps that is the reason we sometimes get the notion. That Fathers are not subject to the thing we call emotion, But if you look inside Dad’s heart, where no one else can see, You’ll find he’s sentimental and as “soft” as he can be… And like Our Heavenly Father, he’s a guardian and a guide, Someone that we can count on to be always on our side. – Helen Steiner Rice

Beauty Brilliance

What does beauty mean to you? is it having great hair? Is it having the right clothes? REAL beauty is far more than perfect features and beautiful clothes. REAL beauty is intangible; it is the light that shines in a person’s eye, the warmth in their smile, the joy in their spirit, the compassion in their heart. This inner light has the power to transform any woman into a beautiful woman in other people’s eyes. Why you ask? It’s simple really, because people are instinctively drawn to positive energy.

There will be times in your life, when you meet people that will change your perspective on life, touch your heart with their kindness and humility. Someone with so much warmth, kindness and generosity will always been seen as beautiful, despite their physical appearance. There may be times in your life, where you meet an extremely attractive person, however, their spirit is cool and indifferent and therefore as a result of their behavior, you would then find it hard to see their ‘real’ beauty.

How to develop your Beauty

1. Media detox – challenge yourself to for-go all magazines for a few weeks or even months. It may be hard for a few of you, but the reason is to challenge the messages the media is sending you about beauty.

2. Get in touch with nature again. Allow the beauty and variety in nature to teach you about your own beauty and uniqueness. Experience serenity that comes with being in nature.

3. Play. Discover a sport, game or activity that you really enjoy and release those endorphins. Discover how your body moves, feel its strength, revel in your vitality! Yoga, Pilates, netball, swimming

4. Volunteer. Studies have shown that helping other people is an essential element of happiness. I have personally volunteered my time in support of Mums On A Mission help to raise funds in aid of my local community, hospitals, schools and organisations like the Cancer Council, The Heart Foundation, The Children’s Hospital At Westmead, The Youth Of The Streets and much more. The experience and the feeling you acquire is amazing and I have found this to be truly rewarding and satisfying.

5. Be your own champion. Every day, remind yourself of your uniqueness and remember the L’Oreal slogan ‘you are worth it!’ Don’t allow the media to define who you are or should be. My motto in life is that we only live once so enjoy it and be the most amazing person you can be!’

6. Get creative. Exploration is fun and exciting, get busy with creative projects and hobbies. Finding something that completely absorbs you is important, discover new passions and learn new skills. Ever wanted to try writing? What about joining a book club? photography??? Or water color painting??? Make up artistry???

7. Daydream. ‘If you don’t have a dream, how you going to make that dream come true?’ Write down on paper your dreams and aspirations and goals. You could even get creative and make a collage of things that inspire you… it may sound silly, but I do this regularly and find it SO therapeutic.

8. Be interested in other people. Really listen to what they have to say. Make them feel special. You, in turn, will grow in confidence and conversational skills.

9. Have a positive attitude. Be a ‘glass half empty’ kind of girl. Count your blessings, look for solutions, be confident and smile.

Always remember that real beauty is not what you see on the front page of a Vogue magazine. Those images have been nip tucked and touched up in numerous ways to give those women a flawless look. Trying to be like these airbrushed goddesses is ultimately setting yourself up for disappointment, because it is an impossible task – unless of course you have a glam squad like Tyra Banks and a fantastic Graphic designer on hand!

Instead, set yourself the goal to be the best version of you that you can be. To do that, you need to learn who you are first. The simple truth is that when you feel beautiful, you will be beautiful, inside and out. Your self-confidence is the path to your own individual beauty. Being happy with what you have, who you are and what you can offer is the real secret to happiness and beauty.

I hope you enjoyed reading about Beauty Brilliance and if you are still puzzled and searching for your own unique beauty we at ByFerial Training & Image Consulting are more than happy to work with you to reach your Beauty Brilliance.

Stylista Vs Fashionista

Are you a Stylista or a fashionista??? Do you know the difference? If you don’t know the difference, never fear, you are not alone! Talking to women, I often find that they are confused about the difference between style and fashion. ‘Aren’t they the same thing?’ I am often asked; Well, to put things simply…the answer is no.

Style is a way of expressing your personality and your individuality while fashion is about following trends – which if you think about it, makes being stylish a lot more affordable. A Stylista is a person who is stylish – on their own terms – oozing confidence in their self awareness. A Fashionista is someone who is a slave to fashion and the ever changing seasonal trends. One of my favorite all time quotes is by John Fairchild which sums this up completely ‘…Style is an expression of individualism mixed with charisma. Fashion is something that comes after style…’

Simply put, style starts with self-knowledge. You need to understand who you are or who you want to be in order to develop a style you can feel confident wearing. Spend some time taking a look at yourself, your lifestyle, and your aspirations. What makes you unique? What aspects of yourself do you want to share with the world? Is it your romanticism, your quick wit, your rebellious streak? Once you know how you want to present yourself to the world, it is easy to create a wardrobe that reflects that image.

Style Basics

Being stylish allows you to create a unique look and you can inject elements of the fashion trends into you your image – being stylish doesn’t mean being safe or boring. However, there are some universal elements to style that all women should follow.

  • Select outfits that are appropriate for your age and the occasion.
  • Always go for a great fit. There is no need to spend lots of money on clothes; rather, just make sure any clothes you wear are flattering to your shape. If necessary, have them professionally fitted by a trusted tailor. It is an inexpensive way of looking and feeling like a million dollars.
  • Know your colors. Some colours will make you glow while others will make you appear unhealthy and tired. A color consultant can simplify the whole process for you – a great investment for anybody
  • It is important to understand the concept of the Vital V, the area that forms a V shape from the tips of your shoulders down the point between your bust. This is the area that always draws people’s attention first. Make sure the colours you use in this area complement your skin tone. This doesn’t mean you can never wear other colours. If you love a particular shade of blue, for instance, but you know it is not your color, you can still wear it; just ensure it is not within the Vital V zone.

  • Finish your look with flattering makeup.
  • Choose accessories to complement your look. Accessories are a great way to create an individual style and are also an inexpensive way to update your wardrobe season after season.
  • Finally, wear your style with confidence and poise. You sell your look, not the clothes. Creating your own style, rather than following fashions, is incredibly liberating. Don’t worry about your look becoming static and outdated if you don’t stay ‘in fashion’. True style evolves naturally over time, along with a woman’s character and lifestyle.

Ultimately, style is a celebration of individuality and celebrates the fact that we are all different. A woman who knows who she is and has the confidence to express it, can create a style that is fun-loving, optimistic, classy, quirky, athletic…the possibilities are endless! Remember it was Yves Saint Laurent who famously exclaimed that ‘Fashions fade, but style is eternal.’

Civility In Today’s Society

In today’s society we need etiquette and civility more than ever. Kids and teens opt not to use their manners as we are living in a vast world of temptations. Aside from the traditional etiquette issues like table manners, proper greetings, gift giving and receiving, today’s teens are facing dangerous decisions; more than ever before.

Teens today are exposed to growing up sooner than they need to due to the social media, phone, internet, texting and constant messages; these factors contribute to the temptations around them and make the dangerous things accessible; like drugs, alcohol, intimacy and bulling.

As a mother of three children myself I believe that the world needs a wakeup call about civility and how to treat each others with warmth and respect. I know that if we all speak in one voice we can make a difference.  I am well aware that teens and young adults are faced with lots of challenges in order to achieve success and I know that it is harder than ever before to succeed in today’s society. However today’s kids needs to learn that it is “Not Cool To Be Cruel” to others in order to succeed.

Therefore hiring and Image & Etiquette consultant is an investment into our children’s future success. To teach them how to lead by example, be the role model, behave and get along with others, respect, restrain and communicate properly. Like a simple thank you and please; how to put others at ease.

I encourage you to reach out to your social group, school or network of friends and suggest a meeting for your teens on etiquette and civility, it will make a difference and will give your teens a chance to make a difference it today’s challenging world.

Getting Fit, Looking Good And Staying Healthy

Getting Fit, Staying Healthy and Looking Good is what everywoman strives and dreams about. Whether you’re trying to carve away a few pounds, revamp your wardrobe, desire a new look or you’ve simply decided to be happy and accept the way you are.

Keep in mind if you make the decision to change your life it will happen and it will work for you. By making this decision you will acquire that new zest in your walk, sparkle in your eye, glow in your skin and that smile on your face. We have no doubt that people around you will start noticing the change in you. Therefore we would like to discuss today how to have flat abs get fit and look great.

5 Diet Tweaks For Flat Abs

(By Manny Elturk a personal trainer and a lifestyle coach)

As you may know exercise alone will not deliver the miracle everyone expect however a good healthy living will set you free and contribute to great lifestyle that you deserve. Below I have compiled 5 very easy tweaks to your eating habits that will dramatically flatten your abs.

Diet Tweak #1: Don’t eat after 6pm

  • This is such a simple and effective way to lose fat. Late night eating is the most damaging to your waistline, so cut it out completely.
  •  Brush your teeth immediately following dinner. Once your teeth are brushed, you’ve put a period to the end of your consumption for the day. Change your evening routine. If you’ve always ended your day watching your favorite shows with your hand in the snack bowl, then now is the time to change things up. Find activities that don’t revolve around food and stick with those.
  • Make it a habit. The first few weeks will be the hardest, but soon your new no-food-after-6pm routine will feel normal.

Diet Tweak #2: Cut back on carbs

Notice I didn’t say to cut out all carbs, but rather to cut back on carbs. These diet tweaks are meant as lifestyle changes that you stick with long term. Cutting back on carbs is a realistic and very effective way to lose weight.

  • Always choose whole grain bread and pasta over white. Whole grains are less likely to be stored as fat than processed grains.
  • Eat half of the carbs you normally do. Eat your sandwich open-faced and reduce the size of your pasta serving.
  • Avoid carb-filled snacks between meals. Instead of crackers or chips, have fresh fruit and veggies.

Diet Tweak #3: Eat more fiber

Most people simply do not get enough fiber in their diets. Fiber is essential when it comes to getting lean since it is low calorie while filling you up.

  • Instead of seeing salad just as a side item, make salads into meals. Add protein to a large pile of greens for a guiltless meal. *Try the recipe for Grilled Salmon and Peach Salad below.
  • Make veggies a part of every meal. The benefits of eating more vegetables are too numerous to list, just know that your body will become healthier and leaner with each fibrous bite.
  • Fruits are a delicious source of fiber. Incorporate fresh, seasonal fruits into your daily diet.

Diet Tweak #4: Drink tons of water

Drinking plenty of water is another extremely simple way to promote weight loss. Chronic dehydration leads to false hunger signals and unnecessary calorie consumption.

  • Drink a large glass of water before each meal. This will prevent overeating.
  • Choose water instead of sugar-filled sodas and juices. Sugar-filled drinks are a huge weight-gain trap.
  • Carry a water bottle with you throughout your day. Keep water in the car and at your desk for constant hydration.

Diet Tweak #5: Enjoy natural sweets

  • Traditional sugar-filled sweets will quickly add up around your waistline. Instead of going for sugary sweets, enjoy natural sweets.
  • Fruit is nature’s candy. Reach for sweet, seasonal fruit for dessert.
  • Avoid foods that contain white sugar or high fructose corn syrup. Consider these items ‘anti-flat-abs’.
  • Use wholesome sweeteners such as pure maple syrup, brown rice syrup or dates in your recipes instead of white sugar. Eliminate white sugar from your kitchen.

Eating right, coupled with challenging exercise, is the formula for a toned, lean body – so guarantee your results by teaming up with me.

Together we will come up with a fitness plan that is uniquely yours, one that fits your lifestyle and brings you promptly to your goals. Call or email today manny@1on1-personaltraining.com to get started.

Slimming Secrets Of The Stylish – A Guide To Illusion Dressing

Illusion dressing is the secret weapon every woman should have, and I am not only talking breast enhancing chicken fillets or SPANX… but everything in between! Every woman has the right to look fabulous, regardless of her age, color, size, shape or budget. There is a vast array of style tricks you can utilize to look instantly slimmer and more attractive – but illusion dressing is not only about looking slimmer it can also mean adding weight to certain areas in order to create balance.

It is not only magicians who have been using the power of illusion for many years, we Image professionals have also been using illusion to help people make-over their appearance and boost their self confidence. By learning some of the same techniques, you can feel and look instantly more attractive and boost your self esteem.

8 quick tricks to Looking good and feeling fab

  • Stand up straight! Standing well will instantly make your waistline slimmer. It also allows your clothes to sit on your body properly, which will also make you look taller and thinner – and it doesn’t cost a thing – hurray!

  • Learn how to use color correctly. Dark colours recede and light colours advance, so if you wear dark colors on your problem areas, this will make them appear smaller. However, it is important to know what colors flatter you and make sure you wear those colors around your face. Flattering colors will make you look younger and healthier – which is exactly what we want!
  • Increase your bust size. For those of you that want to visually increase the size of your bust, to balance the rest of your body, invest in items that have frills or details around the bust line – horizontal necklines also work wonders. This technique is great if you have larger hips as it takes the attention away from the lower part of your body and a look that is visually balanced.

  • Look for vertical lines. Vertical design lines such as princess seams in dresses, single breasted jackets worn open, or a row of buttons which draws the eye, will instantly give you a slimmer look and make you look taller
  • Avoid bulky or shiny fabrics and large patterns. Instead, choose fine to medium textured fabrics that skim over your body, rather than cling to it.
  • Wear the best quality you can afford. Clothing made of a higher quality tends to sit better on the body and therefore will make you appear slimmer.

  • Look for shoes with medium to high heels. The chunkier the shoe and more rounded the toe, the heavier you will appear. Go for shoes that show more of your foot in order to make your legs appear longer and try and avoid ankle straps … they cut your leg off and make you look a lot shorter than you are!

  • Choose the right fit. A well fitted item of clothing will emphasize your best assets while skimming your less flattering features. Don’t wear clothes that are too tight or hang like a bag over your body as it will actually make you appear larger – and none of us want that
  • Invest in great underwear. My favorite shape shifter is SPANX – the power panties – however take heed ladies, you do not want your husband, boyfriend or lover to ever see you wearing these! Hollywood’s worst kept secret, the stars all swear by them even if they are a size 2 – not only do they smooth the lines out but they can also make you go down a dress size! A few counties sadly don’t stock SPANX however you can purchase these online by visiting www.spanx.com Also invest in some great bras, as wearing the right bra can instantly remove pounds off your waistline.

Take the time to look at the cut, color and design of your outfits and make sure they flatter you; I always say if you’re going to spend money, spend it on the right thing. Who wants to waste money on unflattering items??? Practice standing well and smiling and invest in some SPANX – you won’t regret it. These few simple tricks will make all the difference to how you look and feel, because when you know you look good, you are going to feel great. It all starts with the decision to invest in yourself and remember you are worth it! If you would like assistance or advice, we are here to help you.

The Near Absence Of Civility Around Us

We are all aware of the decline and the near absence of civility around us due to the lack of education and training in manners, etiquette and ethics in schools, families and communities. Also being rude, cheating, lying and not using your manners seem to be common in today’s modern world. However we can assure you being uncivil will not get you anywhere in today’s society.

Incidences of incivility across the globe are creating a serious challenge for our society and it impacts people from all walks of life, regardless of their religion, race or ranking.  We don’t have to live with these behaviours around us and need to become conscious with what’s happening.

Schools, corporations and individuals are screaming for help with civility. They are investing in image and etiquette consultants to get the civility back in our lives.

Professor P.M. Forni, co-founder of the Civility Project at Johns Hopkins University, explains it is all about kindness, consideration, sensitivity, caring, giving and nurturing others. It is a code of conduct based on the principles of the three “R” principles and rules of conduct that guides us to behaviour, RESPECT, RESTRAINT, RESPONSIBILITY.

The rules, listed below, are outlined in his book Choosing Civility – The Twenty Five Rules of Considerate Conduct (St. Martin’s Griffin, New York, 2002).

The 25 Rules of Considerate Conduct

  1. Pay Attention
  2. Acknowledge Others
  3. Think the Best
  4. Listen
  5. Be Inclusive
  6. Speak Kindly
  7. Don’t Speak Ill
  8. Accept and Give Praise
  9. Respect Even a Subtle “No”
  10. Respect Others’ Opinions
  11. Mind Your Body
  12. Be Agreeable
  13. Keep it Down (Rediscover Silence)
  14. Respect Other People’s Time
  15. Respect Other People’s Space
  16. Apologize Earnestly
  17. Assert Yourself
  18. Avoid Personal Questions
  19. Care for Your Guests
  20. Be a Considerate Guest
  21. Think Twice Before Asking Favours
  22. Refrain from Idle Complaints
  23. Accept and Give Constructive Criticism
  24. Respect the Environment and Be Gentle to Animals
  25. Don’t Shift Responsibility and Blame
